bitter end

It's Jersday, and for those of you who don't know what it is... do you live under a rock? I'm not proud of being obsessed with the trash I watch on TV, however Jersey Shore really makes a person feel better about their own life, as stressful as it may be. No matter what happens, at least you don't have a juicehead, GLT-loving idiot for a boyfriend... life's good. And even if your boyfriend is an idiot (which mine definitely is not), at least you don't fight as much as Sam and Ron. If, for nothing other than raising the self-esteem of the people that watch it, putting the scum of the earth on TV really is worth it.

The point of me talking about Jersey Shore? Well, Jersey Shore means its thursday. And it being thursday means that I didn't blog about the oscars like I planned to. And because I claim to be an oscar expert (an expert who loses at guessing the winners EVERY year) I will continue with that plan, and not complain about the midterm from hell I took this afternoon.

First and foremost, the fashion. Since I am no fashion expert, I will not try and impress you with whats in this season, and the silhouettes that do or don't look good on certain celebs. I do however have 4 dresses which I am absolutely in love with and wish I could afford to wear:
#1 - Hilary Swank in Gucci Premiere Couture

# 2 - Halle Berry in Marchesa

#3 - Mila Kunis in Elie Saab
#4 - Sandra Bullock in Jenny Packham

Although there were many celebs that could possibly clench the worst dressed award, I decided to pick someone who really should have known better, an award nominee:

Melissa Leo in something awful

I just don't get it...  Don't celebrities have stylists whose sole job is to pick out clothes to wear to the biggest events of the year? Yuck. I wouldn't wear that dress if someone gave it to me for free - I would sell it and buy my own.

And then there was the actual oscars awarded. With a total of 24 categories, my brother won the pot with guessing 17 of them right. I correctly guessed 9, and Justin came in last with 3 picks correct. My brother has won 3 years in a row and I'm determined he cheats by looking online at the critics picks... which you're not allowed to do in my house or you risk disqualification. In case the oscars aren't as big of a deal in your house as they are in mine, and you aren't aware of this years winners, they are as follows:

Best Picture: The Kings Speech
Best Actor: Colin Firth in The King's Speech
Best Actress: Natalie Portman in Black Swan
Best Actor in a supporting role: Christian Bale in The Fighter
Best Actress in a supporting role: Melissa Leo in The Fighter

There were also a lot of little things that changed this year. For the first time ever, there were boy and girl hosts, there were no more movie montages for best picture, there were 10 nominees for best picture instead of 5, the envelopes were different, and there were live performances of the songs once more, among others. The set was also different, there was much more technology used, and the set changed much quicker than it usually does. I liked the changes, I think they made the show much more enjoyable for people who aren't usually into watching it.

Well, I plan to blog more often, now that midterms are finished. However, no oscar blog until next year. Hope you enjoyed them as much as I did.
